ON TRYING TO SET UP THIS MACHINE IT WAS CLEAR THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE WAY THAT IT WAS SET UP. AS I COULD NOT DO ANYTHING WITH IT.WITHIN 30 MINS OF RECIVING IT WAS ARRANGED TO RETURN TO AMAZONE

I got this laptop after extensive reviews of other brands such as HP, Dell, Asus, Lenovo. But on price, spec and positive reviews of Acer, it was a no brainer.
This is a fantastic laptop, its mainly used by sons and wife, i`m still using my trusted IBM Thinkpad. After i got the laptop, i applied for the Windows 7 upgrade disk. I have now installed windows 7 & its running great, but it was also fine with Vista as well..a very good buy.

Excellent - purchased to replace an old Dell. Brilliant screen and excellent keyboard. 4Gb RAM and all the other features make it outstanding value for money. Touchpad not the greatest but not nearly as bad as some reviewers would have it.

I bought this as a replacement for a 5 year old laptop for my wife. It is much better than we expected and in spite of all the warnings about Windows Vista she has found it very easy to use and much better than her old and slow Windows XP version on a Fujitsu Seimens. A very large and clear screen (excellent for her photographs), a good keyboard (except the touch pad which she hates!), excellent battery life and a good range on the wireless connectivity makes this an ideal choice for her. The built in webcam is excellent since she uses the machine extensively for Skype usage with our family.
A more comprehensive manual (a 6 page flimsy is really not on for a machine like this) would be a decidedly valuable addition. Probably the only thing preventing a 5 star rating!
One slight niggle it the cumbersome clip and lock for opening up the closed machine.
